American Mineralogist
Crystal Structure Database (RRUFF)
- US scientific databases of minerals
containing mainly data about Raman spectra, X-ray and structure data and chemical
composition of minerals.

|
ATHENA MINERALOGY
- very well Swiss database of
minerals of worker of Department of Mineralogy in the Genéve containing
main data about minerals (name,
crystallochemical formula, crystal system, Strunz classification,
reference and type locality). This database is fine mainly for searching
of minerals according to mineral name, chemical composition or type locality.

BRGM ATLAS
MINÉRALOGIQUE
- very well mineralogical database
of
prominent French geological institute (BRGM - Bureau de recherches
géologiques et minières)
made in form of atlas with colour photos of minerals (in transmitted
also in reflected light, in 1 nicol also cross-nicols) with lot of
mainly basic informations about minerals. This database is
appropriate for students of mineralogy as well as geologists in practice
which using polarization microscope. Database is only in French
language.

CRYSTALLOGRAPHY
OPEN DATABASE (COD)
- prominent world
crystallographic scientific database of minerals.
http://www.crystallography.net/
|
EUROMIN
- well French database of minerals
with data about history of description of minerals
(authors of description, etymology of name, type locality), chemical,
crystallographical, optical and physical properties and references.
Colour pictures of minerals they are not directly component part of this
database.

MINCRYST
- very well
Russian scientific database of X-ray powder diffraction patterns of
minerals.
http://database.iem.ac.ru/
|
MINDAT
- the best website for mineral
collectors including lot of photos of
minerals, very well database, discussion forum etc. This database is
interactive and contains numbers of locality of minerals.
http://www.mindat.org
|
MINERALIENATLAS
- very well
German encyclopedic database (mineral atlas) with numbers of photos and
informations about minerals, collectors, mining etc. which missing in
others large databases. Richly are illustrated mainly variety of minerals.

|
MINMAX
- fairly good mineralogical database
oriented mainly on systematic and
locality of minerals. By interest are data about infrequency of minerals on
individual localities. This database contains a lot of photos of
minerals.

VIRTUAL ATLAS OF OPAQUE
AND ORE MINERALS IN THEIR ASSOCIATIONS
- specialized web-atlas of opaque and ore minerals with numbers of photos of
thin sections in polarized microscopy.
http://www.smenet.org/opaque-ore/
|
WEBMINERAL
- excellent mineralogical database with quantity exact data and informations.
It contains 4442 (2.8.2009) decriptions of minerals. This database
including mineral data about name of minerals, their origin,
chemical composition, type locality, crystal structure, X-ray pattern, physical and optical
properties and incorporation to mineralogical systems (Strunz´s and Dana´s).
Part of database are as well colour photos of minerals.
